Southern Carretera

It is a highway located in the south of Chile. It is also the main transport route around Aysen and Los Lagos and connects these cities with the rest of the Chilean territory. It is considered one of the most beautiful roads in the world!

Carretera started in 1976, being one of the most expensive and ambitious projects of the entire 20th century in Chile. The highway hasn´t been done until these days, that´s why we take ferries at some points during the trail.

Patagonia Andes have a complicated geographical characteristic, with lakes, turbulent rivers and ice fields, the highway is in permanent maintenance.
